Depends on four factors:
Length of membership: New members are given more leeway than members who have been here several months and/or have posted over 50 posts. Members who have been here a year or have posted over 100 posts should know and understand the rules; and zero tolerance is used.
Severity: We all can recognize slight and severe abuse of the rules. Calling someone skippy may be an infraction, but cannot be compared to a racial slur.
Piling-on: When an individual abuses several of the rules in one post or at one setting.
Chronic: When an individual repeatedly violates a rule despite being notified.
